The Poet Acts

The Poet Acts is a song composed by Philip Glass for the orginal score of The Hours.

I like it very much. I recently reacquired the song from iTunes after having my cd severely scratched. You can listen to a snippet of it here.

It reminds me a little bit of the second movement of Beethoven's 7th Symphony. Not that it necessarily sounds like it, it just reminds me; it arouses the same time of emotions. I imagine it akin to the feelings of dealing with regret from a reluctance to initiate action. Or a sense of helplessness, unable to change or prevent dreadful things from taking place around you.

I don't I would necessarily want to have the album as a whole again, but I certainly give the first three songs on the album my seal of approval.
